Vague Skate Mag presents Car 13 in Marseille
Alex Irvine and the Car 13 wheels crew headed to Marseille a little while back on a trip to skate the legendary Prado Bowl, the concrete park there, only to find it closed for a refurbishment – so instead, they hit the various other concrete parks and DIY spots which that part of the South of France has to offer with a vengeance. Vague Skate Mag have just posted the video from said trip which sees Colin Adam, Sam Beckett, Rikk Fields and Julien Benoliel making the most of Southern France’s warm climate – which incidentally looks like a cruel joke right about now as the snow falls outside, as does the dulcet tones of Mungo Jerry’s Ray Dorset singing about the summer time over a tinkling piano…prick, I can’t even feel my toes after an hour in the office and he has the temerity to have women on his mind? Not getting frostbite, that’s what I’ve got on my mind pal!
Moving on from unwarranted rage at 70s pop sensations, what you have here is four minutes of unadulterated schralping of Euro ‘crete – we’re sure that we don’t have to tell you twice that all four of these skaters are savages and the combination of sun and cheap booze is always a good way to get the best from a crew when it comes to filming. Crusty looking DIY builds get annihilated, Beckett hits ridiculously oversized vert walls, Colin goes full concrete cannibal, Julien retains his title as master of the transition nosegrind/newer deal and Rikk demonstrates impeccable Wigan warrior technique on all terrain in his path. File under ‘watch immediately’…
Filmed and edited by Alex Irvine.
PS the scooter slam BGP’s at 1:32 is top notch!
