Here is some recommended viewing for anybody with more than a passing interest in skateboarding culture.
For those who don’t know, Tim Dowling was one of the original LA filmers from the early World Industries era, who, along with people like Socrates Leal, were on hand to capture much of the skateboarding that has subsequently gone on to represent something now cherished as being essentially 90’s and LA-based in our culture.
Tim was the man behind the lens on much of Girl/Chocolate’s early output, most notably filming the entirety of Guy Mariano’s Mouse section, followed by his own independent project Listen and work for Transworld.
Sometime after that Tim moved into the world of commercial production working on everything from pop videos to TV shows such as ‘Deadliest Catch’ but still retained his love for skateboarding, and more importantly for us all, his boxes of hi-8 tapes relating to his tenure as Girl/Chocolate’s resident filmer.
This Berrics documentary sees Tim talk you through his own personal history and is riddled with raw footage from some of the most influential skate videos ever made.
So, so sick.
