Rom Skatepark 40th Anniversary Jam – 14th/15th July

A weekend of ripping at Britain's only Heritage Listed skatepark

The Rom Skatepark 40th Anniversary Jam will be taking place over the weekend of the 14th and 15th of July, with the only Heritage Listed park in the UK celebrating the milestone with two days of jams. Sunday is the relevant day for us, but a full weekend pass only sets you back a tenner so if you fancy watching the park getting a two wheeled seeing too then you can head down for some tins and check out the BMX session before getting stuck in yourselves the next day.

The Rom has a long and storied history, from Bones Brigade visits in the 80s to Cardiel hitting it in the 90s, through the years that Duffs’ ‘Concrete Carnage’ Jam saw heavy sessions going down every summer and all the way up until Raven Tershy, Rune Glifberg and Ben Hatchell paid a visit for our Concrete Dinosaurs feature last year. During that time it has helped to raise some of the gnarliest skaters to come out of Essex, from Philippe da Rosa to Ben Raemers (who Munson and Potter would pretty much just point at the gnarliest parts of the park back in the day).

Obviously we don’t need to espouse too wildly on just how bonkers it is that a skatepark has gained Heritage status; if you haven’t been, then what are you waiting for? This session looks like the ideal excuse…
