The No Comply Network presents ‘Beyond Skateboarding’ – a two day event taking place in Deptford on Thursday November 10th and Sunday November 13th. BEYOND SKATEBOARDING
Beyond Skateboarding is a skate art showcase presented by The No Comply Network. The event will exhibit and promote creative work made by its members who are skate community artists, musicians and film-makers. The aim of the event is to celebrate skateboarding and the creativity found in skate culture. The No Comply Network is an online artist showcase set up to promote the art, music, film that its members make. No Comply helps to connect artists who skate and encourages them to network and collaborate.
No Comply has 100+ members, who skate or are inspired by skate culture and who are based around the globe. The group is run by Jason Caines, a skater who lives in New Cross and is a
Goldsmiths MA graduate who previously worked for Long Live Southbank and NASS festival
What’s Happening and Where?
The event is planned to be held at three main locations in Deptford, South London on Nov 10th and Nov 13th, 2016. Located a few pushes from Deptford Rail Station,
1. CURVE SKATESHOP, DEPTFORD
Curve Skateshop will be the host for the main No Comply Exhibition. Curve stocks many of the brands that No Comply Members produce like Isle and Heroin Skateboards. The shop also has a great clean design that would be perfect for a medium sized exhibit of photos, illustrations. We’d also be able to project a series of short films in the shop too. All of this has been agreed with the owner.

Exhibition 1
The first exhibition space features two very large white walls and will include work by No Comply illustrators, photographers and film-makers. Members of the group like Fos, Nick Jensen and Leo Sharp are some of the most well-known skaters out there, who are well-regarded for their
creative approach to skating and their other artistic output.
2. BUSTER MANTIS
Buster Mantis is a bar and exhibition space, located a few doors down from Curve
Skateshop. They’ve agreed to let us put on an exhibition night in the space where we
plan to exhibit even more artwork and photography and also enjoy some live music played by No Comply musicians, such as SENDAWG and more to be announced.

3. GIFFIN SQUARE, DEPTFORD
Beyond Skateboarding will have a skate jam and an art workshop which will take place in
Giffin Square, a popular SE London skate spot. At this space, we will be doing all-day skate lessons, an art workshop and a skate jam with music from 10am-8pm. Deptford Lounge, The group who runs Giffin Square have agreed to let us hire the space for the entire day on November 13th.

3B. GIFFIN SQUARE, DEPTFORD SKATE LESSONS
The skate lessons would be given by Learn toSkateboard, owned by Ex-Pro Skater and SE
local Dave Chesson has agreed to do a skate school at the event. Learn
to Skateboard do the skate Lessons at House of Vans and have said they want to run lessons
at Beyond Skateboarding. They have all the equipment, pads and boards and skate
obstacles we would need.
3A. GIFFIN SQUARE, DEPTFORD ART WORKSHOP
The No Comply Network will lead a workshop at Giffin Square. We will supply, pencils and
pens and brushes, canvases and paint. The class will be taught by members of No Comply who also work as professional tutors.
