For one month from April 17th, the Howies store in Bristol is playing home to “Deckades”, a one off skateboard exhibition featuring 200 rare and classic original decks from the private vaults of Shiner Distribution. Expect to see old favourites from the likes of Dogtown, Sims, Santa Cruz, Powell Peralta, Vision, Schmitt Stix, G & S, Zorlac, Alva, Santa Monica Airlines plus a host of others.
In addition to the classic decks on display, also featured will be 20 hand painted 1987 shape Chris Miller ‘Snake’ blanks that are set to be auctioned off with all proceeds going to Unicef, featuring artwork from Jim Phillips, Geoff McFetridge, Pete Fowler, French, Kev Grey, Chris Bourke, Danny Wainwright, Jethro Haynes and more.
Obviously if you’ve got any interest in skateboard history or classic graphics, this will be one unmissable event. The opening of the Shiner vaults is a very rare occurrence and “Deckades” is probably the only opportunity you’ll get to see a collection like this with your own two eyes.
See below for a video teaser from Tidy Mike made up of footage from the pick to give you a taste of what to expect. The Howies store can be located at 62 Queens Road, Bristol – get on it!
