Sam Roberts got married earlier this year, so to celebrate we rounded up a few carloads of idiots to take over Camp Hillcrest for the ‘Hamstag 2018’ weekend. Stopping at Hereford on the way down and Bradley Stoke on the way back, three days of skating, boozing and Craig Questions‘ constant barrage of Youtube videos left surprisingly minimal mental scarring – through the same can’t perhaps be said for the locals at the sleepy Gloucestershire pub who gazed on in bewilderment as twenty plus skateboarders descended on a drinking establishment which would normally see that amount of footfall in a week.
Camp Hillcrest is definitely a one off in the UK, with an indoor DIY bowl/street course set up boasting one of the best bank to wall features that I’ve had the pleasure of skating. A visit there will also see you finding a frankly terrifying outdoor kinked hubba ledge, a stone pizza oven, an axe throwing stump and plenty more activities aimed at those keen to escape the concrete and steel metropolis to get in touch with nature, without giving up the chance to go put down a few frontside grinds when the mood takes you. We had a shitload of fun there and you’re bound to if you go as well.
Congratulations Sam and Shelley! Sorry this video took so long, I am not the most organised human in the world…
