This past weekend saw gaggles of skateboarders from all over Scotland team up with their like minded counterparts from England and Wales, pack their bags, pile into suitable vehicles and head out on the roads of The True North for the annual two-day feast of seven-ply carnage known lovingly as War of the Thistles held at two of the best of Scotland's indoor skateparks.

As you’d expect, the Scots were out in full force, with Mark Burrows and Ali Menzies on the mic, and the likes of Aaron Wilmot, Lord Div, Colin Adam, Russ Hall and Youngo being joined by younger home-grown rippers such as Kieran Menzies, Saul Crumlish, Freddie Lusk, John Connolly and Chris Baillie. There were smatterings of skaters from ‘down south’, though the lions’ share of the motoring props needs to reside with Toby Gozzett and Jordan Thackeray, who acquired last minute petrol money from Vans UK team manager Manhead on the Friday morning and made the long old drive to Aberdeen from deepest, darkest Essex, calling in at North Wales on the way to pick up Jordan Sharkey. The two Jordan’s then took it in turns to pummel the unsuspecting parks, with Thackeray earning himself one half of the infamous Thistles sword in Aberdeen on the Saturday, and Sharkey scoring himself the other half of the sword in Dumbarton on the Sunday.

All praise be to Ali Menzies and the crew at Skateboard Scotland for keeping the Thistles fires burning, along with the staff at Transition Extreme in Aberdeen and Unit 23 in Dumbarton.

Enjoy…
