As the oldest skateboard brand on the Deluxe Distribution roster, Thunder Trucks have been a mainstay on the truck market since way back in 1986 so, as you can imagine, their reputation is heavy.

Over the three decades since then, Thunder have prided themselves on releasing trucks in sizes and heights to match the evolution of skateboarding itself, so as trends in board sizes and width have altered over time, so have the trucks that Thunder produce.

These Thunder Titanium Lights 148 trucks are a perfect example of the brand’s commitment to moving with the times. As the newest truck currently available from Thunder, the Titanium Lights 148 have been specifically manufactured to fit perfectly with the almost ubiquitous (in 2017) 8.25 width deck.

"The Titanium Lights 148 have been specifically manufactured to fit perfectly with the almost ubiquitous 8.25 width deck."

If the ‘148’ tag is confusing you, don’t worry – all truck manufacturers use their own sizing systems, some choose Imperial, some use Metric, so with Thunder the 148 tag refers to the hanger width – 148mm, or (in Imperial) 5.83" wide.

This slightly larger than average hanger means that with the 8.25" axle, these trucks are spot on perfect for an 8.25" deck, currently the most popular deck width on the market.

The Titanium Light is also a high truck giving you enough clearance to be able to comfortably use wheels on the larger end of the diameter range, (say between 55mm and 60mm) with no fear of wheel bite.

If you’re wondering why these Thunders come in at a good £30 above other trucks on the market, put simply, it’s because of the Titanium construction of the axles, which guarantees strength and grinding performance but keeps the weight low. These trucks also come fitted with (low-sitting) aircraft-grade hollow kingpins again keeping the emphasis on strength whilst keeping weight at a minimum. Fitted with custom Thunder bushings, these are trucks offering maximum performance and maximum strength but with the type of weight you’d associate with a Silver or Venture truck.

Thunder are so confident of the performance of their products that they also offer a lifetime guarantee on all their skateboard trucks – you can find out more about that HERE
