British company Karma Skateboards, distributed by the Brackley-based iFive Distribution, should not be confused with Karma Skateboards USA, the American board company started by skater Karma Tsocheff in 2010. Karma UK offers completes, decks and a range of ‘Zoltar’ wheels, and recently announced that it also plans to offer Karma-branded clothing in the near future.
Among the current range of Karma completes is an updated version of its original ‘Kizla’ graphic, a collaboration with UK wheels company Supertoxic Urethane. There are also a range of different coloured boards in the ‘Erossion’, ‘Wave’ and ‘Readers’ series. All Karma boards are designed and printed in the UK, and made from the world-renowned ‘Zorlac’ wood from the USA.
Karma has a great line-up of British riders including Londoner Pete King, Joey Hurst from Lancaster, Welshman Owen Hopkins, and Scottish ripper Tom Shimmin. Also on the team are the young American Channon Wallace from Los Angeles, and 19-year-old Jake Anderson, who was born in Hamilton on the north island of New Zealand, but now lives in the Cornish town of Hayle.
Among the video offerings from Karma are a banging Adam Todhunter-edited ‘Ten Tricks’ clip from new recruit Ross Zajac, which featured on the Sidewalk website in August 2013. Also in August, an amazing edit of Glaswegian Shimmin slaying the streets of his hometown was released to celebrate the 35th anniversary of Clan Skates, and Wallace could be seen giving it his all in a full street part from James Harris’s Perfect Blues video.
