English Heritage confirms Grade II Listed Status for Milton Keynes Bus Station

Here’s another interesting architectural turn up for the books, (and by extension, for UK Skateboarding culture as a whole), as Milton Keynes Bus Station has just been confirmed as having been awarded Grade II Listed Status by English Heritage. The Bus Station, designed by Derek Yeadon (of Milton Keynes Development Corporation) and built in 1982/83 following the functional motif of MK itself, has simultaneously played a major role in UK Skateboarding culture since the 1980’s, playing host to everything from Chris Ince’s cafe/skate shop which evolved into the legendary Radlands skatepark in the early 90’s; through to being the setting for many major international skate demo’s and events, before being formally re-categorized as ‘The Buszy’ and designated as a skate-specific plaza space in the mid 00’s.

This Grade II Listing has been on the cards for sometime but has been officially announced as of today.
First Romford and Southbank, now Milton Keynes – truly life-affirming stuff…
