Top 10 Wallrides Vol.1

Jake Johnson goes the distance on a gnarly one…

There are so many rad and varied wallrides that it’s too big of a shame to do just ten, which is why this meagre Vol.1 is merely to give you a taste for what’s going on.

Wallrides are ace and most cities, towns and villages have at least a wall, so there’s always opportunities to crawl your way up a wall regardless of your location.

Have a scan through and let us know which ones you agree and disagree with!

Wallride research and writing props to Jerome Caples and Guy Jones.

Silas Baxter-Neal – Habitat ‘Inhabitants’

Silas goes to town on one wall at 3:09 in this clip, busting out numerous tricks for all you lucky viewers. The hippy jump is particularly rad!

In the same part but at a different point in the video is this gem

Wes Kremer – DC Shoes ‘Skateboarding Is Forever’

Wes Kremer released an amazing part in the somewhat underhyped 2010 DC video ‘Skateboarding is Forever’. In this part he proved that he could skate nearly everything better than nearly everyone, even if the brand he rides for does spell ‘skate’ with an ‘8’. His ender has to make it in to this list as you’d be hard pressed to find a more solid wallride than that!

Jake Johnson – Alien Workshop ‘Mindfield’

Jake Johnson has a plethora of incredible wallrides to choose from and I’m sure the future beholds many more; however it’s the two that feature in his mind blowing Mindfield part that made it into this post. The backside wallride down the double is the first to be appreciated, clocking in at 3:25, which is followed by a switch one at 3:53 which still boggles the mind, boom!

Jason Adams – Enjoi ‘Bag Of Suck’

The award-winning recipe of high speed and creativity makes any Jason Adams part addictive to watch, just check out Sidewalk’s Jason Adams interview and tribute from last week. He takes a more demanding route in this one at 1:11 on the video timeline, coming head to head with a right angle midway.

John Motta – A Happy Medium

John Motta is a beast, finding some untouched spots in Arizona whilst skating them in a way so unconventional that centuries ago he may have been accused of being a witch. Check this varial heel wallride from A Happy Medium at 4:40.

Danny Gonzales – Transworld ‘A Time to Shine’ (montage)

Transworld montages have been a part of skateboarding since the 90’s and have always been pretty much a montage of tour footage and skaters who aren’t filming for another video. You have to admire the quality of the footage that some skaters submit to these five minute montages, but I suppose it’s a great way for it to not end up gathering dust at the back of their filmer’s hard drive. Danny Gonzales went hard and secured the ender in this upside-down example from ‘A Time to Shine’.

Lee Yankyou busts out and incredible roof ride in Think’s latest full lengther ‘Business as Usual‘; he’s going to get a post to himself in this don’t you worry, but hit the blue letters above for now!

Jesse Alba

This wallride at 1:40 may not be particularly gnarly, but it does have an arse load of creativity. Jesse decides to push into this wallride, which is a lot harder to do than expected – what a lad!

Whilst you’re here get this 5050 wallride in ya…

Ryan Reyes – Creature Skateboards ‘CFSU’

Similarly to Jake Johnson there are any number of Ryan Reyes wallrides to choose, but we’ve chosen this cheeky one at 2:54 in his Creature CSFU part. Not satisfied with just 5-0ing the ledge, Ryan decides to drop it in mid grind. Again, what a lad!

Lee Yankou – Osiris ‘Never Gets Old’

This one really is insane – skip to 1:08 for Lee Yankou wallriding up to front slash in Osiris’ really well named video, the wall’s bigger than him!

Sylvain Tognelli – Lakai Kingpin Interview Edit

Sylvain isn’t satisfied with the standard four wheels on the wall, so levels up to nose wheelie one to finish this quick clip from his Kingpin interview back in 2013; so silly, it’s amusing. Who made the beat?
