Sidewalk’s Top Ten Hillbombs of All Time

Bombing hills is a sensation that should be experienced by every skateboarder, it’s super fun and gravity does all the work for you!

We’ve compiled a list of significantly gnarly hillbombs to hopefully hype you up to go out and search for your nearest gradient to get down with your pals.

Frank Gerwer – Spitfire Lance Mountain advert

Frank’s the best and can take a hill like no other human! This clip is super gnarly for numerous reasons. First it’s three hills rolling into each other, secondly he pushes like fuck, thirdly he does it switch and fourthly a swarm of kids cross a road when he’s at the pinnacle moment of the bomb. Watch the whole clip after you’ve seen Frank narrowly avoid killing several children, himself and the filmer who also gets mad props! Don’t worry, there’s more Frank to come later on in this post.

Dave Abair – Lowcard ‘Pissing in the Wind’

Dave Abair‘s ender part from Lowcard’s Pissing in the Wind video is amazing and has many a hill bomb in so it’s worth watching the whole section. Actually just watch the whole video! The bomb we’re focussing on is the start to his section, going silly fast and narrowly avoiding a curb when he takes the corner, adrenaline surge to say the least!

Dabair is no stranger to hill bombs, and the heelflip to bomb as featured in Dave’s Rock n’ Roll part at the two minute mark below deserves props as well, beauty!

Emmanuel Guzman – Behind the scenes – Thrasher ‘Prevent This Tragedy’

Emmanuel talks about the ridonkulous hill he takes whilst filming for Thrasher’s Prevent This Tragedy video, which is dope on a rope also so be sure to check that out. Somebody else’s board, first leg of a tour and Guzman decides to flat line a hill that would be gnarly to walk down. TAKE IT!

Andrew Allen – Thrasher ‘Prevent This Tragedy’

From the same video comes Andrew Allen taking on a steep narrow alley to kick off his Prevent This Tragedy part. Brian Delatorre narrowly survives this incline on his Search For The Horizon part and very few have stuck it out to roll away, so Andrew attacking it switch is bonkersville!

Sean Young – Anti Hero ‘Fucktards’

Pushing down a hill, in the rain and on acid is just plain absurd, but Sean Young gives no shits! Incredible start to an incredible video and as a treat we’ve posted Sean bomb Jones Street in San Fran. What an absolute lunatic!

Alexis Lacroix – Dime Store ‘Dime Turd Season’

You’ll need to skip to 18.56 for this one – Alexis seems to be the master of ski jump-esque manoeuvres and this double wallie proves it. There’s been footage of many people hitting this double set then bombing the hill in S.F. but not like Alexis!

Derm – In Crust We Trust

This switch hill bomb slam at 1.44 is something everyone fears when hitting the concrete slopes (shakka brah) but Derm takes it like an absolute bloke! Gnar factor 11 for this, especially as the ground looks rougher than Jeremy Kyle’s ‘guests’ on crack.

John Cardiel – Anti Hero ‘Tent City’

This beast featured on our powerslides appreciation post, but as you may have guessed hill bombs and powersldies often hang out together, sharing secrets and backing each other up.

You just have to look at Cardiel’s wheel at the end of this to gauge the gnar factor!

Thrasher – Need for Speed

Thrasher released this compilation of makes and slams on some hills that are so steep they border on being walls! Watch out for the speed wobbles everyone.

Frank Gerwer and Julien Stranger – Shore Break Baby: SF From Top to Bottom

Two of the best to ever eye up an incline explore San Francisco, AKA the city of hillbombs!
