Interviews

Walthamstow by Morph

Ahead of tomorrows “Yam Dat” kick off on the site – click this for more info – we caught up with the man himself, Dane “Morph” Crook, to get the insiders guide to his beloved hometown of Walthamstow. Read on below, and check back tomorrow for the first two sections from “Yam Dat”!

Morph’s Waltham-stow
Best breakfast spot: It’s got to be the Monox Cafe. I hit that up everyday. Cheap as well!
Best form of transportation: My skateboard. I can get all around ‘Stow on it, so it works out fine.
Best skate shop: We used to have a skate shop called Skaters Paradise, but it’s gone now. As for the best I would have to say Slam. If I’m gonna buy anything, I will go there.
Best chicken shop: Chick-Inn. My new favorite chicken establishment!
Best band: From ‘Stow? Would have to be E17, right?
Best album: “Each Time”, the second E17 album I think…
Best local video: The “Hell Stone” video. I think it was put straight on the net, but I love it. All the dudes look like they are having the most fun.
Best local video section: Jak in one of the old videos I made, “Long Live London”.
Best local – back in the day: Paco and Zaco. If it was not for these dudes no one would call me Morph and I probably wouldn’t be skating now. True legends.
Best local – present: Jak Pietryga.
Best skate spot – back in the day: Lloyds Park or the town hall.
Best skate spot – present: The town hall still.
Best undercover spot: The underground car park what ain’t underground, ha.
Best skatepark – back in the day: Cann Hall Skatepark
Best skatepark – present: Harlow!
Best bar: I tend not to go to bars in ‘Stow but I have heard the Jamaican bar is a good ‘un.
Best nightclub: Nightclub in ‘Stow? It’s gotta be Lips!
Best restaurant: McDonalds class themselves as a restaurant…
Best local slang phrase: “Blud! This ain’t no regular fluff ting.”
Best point of local interest/tourist must see: The market. I think it’s the longest in Europe. It’s 1 mile long.
Best local celebrity: We have a few. That ginger dude from Eastenders who gave it to that Stacy bird. I see Brian Harvey in the Monox Cafe all the time.
Best thing about living in Walthamstow: Chicken shops, Polish girls, corner shops that sell grinders and blunts, street hoes, ticking chicken burger meals from Chick-Inn and the fact that you always see at least one fucked up dude when you go out.
